In Class Writing: Working with Websites

The purpose of this website appears to be as a charity website, earning money for those suffering from AIDS. It is aimed towards an audience that is middle class and higher, by using a satirical approach to poke fun of the day-to-day problems that those in middle and upper-class experience. The website is trying to make the point that so many people are complaining about small problems while there are so many people suffering from AIDS and problems that are much more severe. This website looks very professional in the organization and the design. The layout is very clean cut with an appropriate looking font. There are also a lot of pictures for each of the products that are available for purchase, which give the readers of the website a sense of legitimacy and assurance that this is a real organization. The sense of assurance helps with the charity’s business and goal of raising money for AIDS.

The website that I chose as the one I visit often is tumblr.com. It is a website that has the purpose for people to create their own blog and share their different interests with the rest of the users on the sites. This website is aimed for people who are creative and want to share their interests with others similar to them. The design of the website is very artsy with graphic images taken from different blogs. Despite being a website of many different blogs, there is also a standard blue background with white text and a standard font that gives the website a uniform appearance and logo to allow it to appear as though all the blogs are connected in a giant community. This sense of community makes the website welcoming to the users so that they can feel free to express themselves and use this website regularly. I believe that this website was well made and makes so many different people all feel connected and as a part of a community.
